Marty asked me to post this.
We would like to rescind the email we sent out about Marty being fired from the band. It was a miscommunication between the remaining members of the band that caused the misunderstanding. Marty was not fired, and we are all still friends. He has decided to leave the band to pursue other musical avenues, and we would just like to apologize to him for making it sound like we were angry, and wish him the best of luck. ste | | Wednesday, August 25th, 2004 | | 1:55 pm |

Riots, Rigitone, Repromandings
Hey everyone, we've been on the road for about a week now. Everything has been going good. We met up w/ The Oval Portrait in Philly, and they are all cool kids. So, we were stopped at a stoplight in philly and a riot broke out. It was crazy, there were like 8 cop cars and a paddy wagon, that was just as it started. The paddy wagon backed up into a bunch of cops, and some lady that was yelling at them. Then the rest of the crowd started throwing bottles at all of the cops, then we drove off. If we would have been there longer, I don't know what would have happened. Four white kids in a van, man that would have been terrible. Then we went to Mass., the Fall River area. We played a show w/ Remembering Never, and some other hardcore bands. That was an interesting show. The roads in Mass. are crazy, none of the streets seem to have signs. I don't know how anyone gets around up there. We met some nice people in Taunton. They made us food, and then they took us down to the beach. There were like 3 cars at the beach when we showed up, and we caught them doing naughty things. New York was awesome. I've never been there so I didn't know what to expect, I thought traffic was going to be a lot worse. We went there on a weekend, so it wasn't gridlock like I thought it would be. The show was good, Wage of Sin played. They are an all girl hardcore band, it was pretty strange to see a girl screaming like a guy would. So, we met up w/ Mary-Kate's manager in New York and he wasn't a happy man. He said we couldn't publicize our relationship with each other. So, you guys have to keep this on the "DL". The skyline game is getting heated. The scores are Me 4, Matt & Nick 3, and Marty in last with no points. Marty will have to make a violent comeback to win, it is unlikely, but possible. We are on the way to Buffalo, NY as I type this. I will be posting more info about the tour in a few days. Talk to you later | | Monday, May 3rd, 2004 | | 6:05 pm |
why are we always late? .....
So we are on the road again, we left today for St.louis. Actually, our frist show w/ the oval portrait is in philly. Driving really isn't much fun at all, we have a dvd player and a t.v., but we can't hook them up eachother. So, they're kinda pointless at the moment. Marty is driving, Nick is in the front seat, Matt is on the right passenger side, and I (ryan) am in the driver side passenger seat. Not just some usless knowledge that I found out yesterday, boats can sink because of bubbles. Strange huh? So, how about that tour name, "holy fuck, she was only thirteen!" Not much new news, just the same stuff as before. We have been writing a lot, so far so good. We'll get back to you guys later the battery on the computer is almost dead, sorry. mmmm.....the smell of cat piss.
Hey everyone, sorry about the time between entries, we all have been really busy. So a lot has been going on since we had to cancel the tour w/ the underwater. As you all my know The Underwater rolled their van 3 times in Iowa. The driver fell asleep at the wheel. No one was hurt, but their van is totaled. As a result they had to cancel the rest of the dates. We wish them the best of luck, and hope they can get back on their feet soon. Since the tour was canceled it gives us a chance to get more practice, and start on some new material. We have been practicing for about 5-6 hours a day. The writing process is coming very slowly, we all have good ideas, but not everyone likes them. So we go back and forth shooting down each others ideas hoping we will come up with something everyone will like. Oh, the space we are practicing in smells like cat piss, it smells horrible. My first shows were ok, i guess. The St.louis show was a little rough. It was my first show in front of a crowd of any kind. So I was nervous as hell, and Matt kept asking me "ARE YOU NERVOUS YET?" that made me even more nervous than I already was. Then my guitar fucked up, the high E and B strings didn't stay in tune, they were almost a whole step off by the end. We played w/ Zolof the Rock and Roll destroyer, that was an interesting band, their guitarist was great, it was neat to see them. So that was my first show. The next show in Lawrence was 100 times better, I thought. It felt better to be on a stage than to be ground level w/ the crowd. Everyone played well, and it was a lot smoother than the nigh before. We have some local shows coming up so you should come check us out. | | Friday, April 2nd, 2004 | | 11:18 pm |
Ryans first tour journal entry.
Hello Everyone, This is the "new guy", or new guitarist Ryan. On this tour I will be keeping a journal and posting entries on this site. I'll let you know all the ins and outs of life on the road since this is going to be my first tour. I plan on taking some video of what its like to be on the road and the new guy in the band. We are all really excited to get on the road, and get this tour started. It has been a tough 3 weeks since they asked me to join the band. I've had a lot of work to do and a ton of practicing also. I have some big shoes to fill, Nick Knutsen is an excellent guitarist, and he wrote some great parts. It's really strange to think about how I used to go to Salt the Earth shows to see them play these songs, now I am playing those same songs. Its really hard to get a full band practice. Almost everyone has a job, but me, and the rest of the band members have to commute to Kansas City from Lawrence to practice. Also, I've learned a lot about the music industry in my few short weeks in this band. Not everything is not as easy as it seems... It's sweet that I get to go on the road, but it will be tough to leave behind Kansas City. I will miss my huge soft bed, showers, everyday food and my family and friends. It's going to be tough with out the regular comforts of my life but it will be a great experience. I'm excited to play cities that I've never seen like NYC and LA. Keep and eye out for the new entries and videos. We should have it updated every couple of days. | | 11:17 pm |
